Color My World Childcare & Preschool

Color My World Child Care & Preschool was established in 1998 with 3 children and one staff member. Fast forward to today, we care for over 140 children, ages 6 weeks-12 years of age with a staff of over 25. We are proud of where we have come from and where we have yet to go!

Color My World is located in the Easter Lake area of Des Moines, IA. Our location is truly unique as we back up to the Easter Lake Park grounds which provide a secluded location while being centrally located to residential and downtown Des Moines.

Color My World is a HHS licensed center. We accept Child Care Assistance as well as private pay families. CMW participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and apart of the United Way Cohort which provides additional resources, partnerships and educational opportunities for our center and staff.

 

We also participate in the Iowa Quality for Kids (IQ4K, previously QRS) and are proud to be a Level 3 rated center. In order to achieve this rating, we must go beyond the state minimum requirements for child care and the education of children in our care therefore we have best practice guidelines and standards for our staff and the quality of our classrooms.

We take the extra time to participate in IQ4K so you and your child(ren) benefit through:

• Enhanced best practices in health, safety and nutrition.

• Planned family and community partnerships.

• Improved environment for children that creates and provides learning spaces that are welcoming, interactive, diverse and inclusive to everyone.

• Teaching and learning activities are individualized based on the developmental needs of the children.

• Participation in additional training/professional development beyond the regulatory requirements.

We are proud to work with the IQ4K program and know you can see the constant strive towards excellence which comes from working with them.

Our birth through 5 year old program utilizes the Ages and Stages (ASQ) and Creative Curriculum Gold assessment tools to monitor your child's development. These screening tools and assessments will help determine if your child falls on target or if they need us to add extra activities or bring in extra help to get your child on target across all developmental areas. The Gold assessment will go with your child to Kindergarten as foundation for their elementary education and beyond.
